Comparison

VuloMail vs GoSMTP.

GoSMTP is made by Softaculous, the company behind the one-click installer many hosts use, and has 500,000 installs. The free version sends through eight services or any SMTP server. Email logs, a backup connection, failure alerts, Gmail, Microsoft 365 and Amazon SES are all paid, from $39 a year. It has only 10 reviews. VuloMail includes all of those for free.

Strengths

Where each one wins.

We list theirs first. If one of these matters most to you, it should decide it.

Where GoSMTP is stronger
  • The cheapest paid plan of the freemium plugins here: $39 a year for one site.
  • Paid plans add open and click tracking, email reports and smart routing, which VuloMail doesn't offer.
  • Exposes settings and test sends to AI assistants through the WordPress Abilities API.
Where VuloMail is stronger
  • Email log, resend, backup connection and failure alerts are free; GoSMTP charges for all four.
  • Gmail, Microsoft 365, Amazon SES, Resend and MailerSend work in the free plugin.
  • SMS alerts and WooCommerce texts to you and your customers.
  • A sender-domain SPF and DMARC check in Diagnostics.

Verdict

Which one should you pick?

Choose GoSMTP if

  • You only need basic sending and it already works for you.
  • You want open tracking and reports for $39 a year.

Choose VuloMail if

  • You want to see what your site sends, and have a backup, without a licence.
  • You need Gmail, Microsoft 365 or Amazon SES and don't want to pay for it.

Switching

Moving from GoSMTP.

01

Add the same account

Add the provider you use in GoSMTP as a VuloMail connection. Nothing changes until you set it as primary.

02

Set it as primary

Optionally add a backup connection, so a second provider takes over if the first fails.

03

Send a test

Tools → Send a test email goes through live routing. Diagnostics confirms your SPF and DMARC records.

04

Deactivate GoSMTP

Two plugins handling the same email compete for it. VuloMail's Diagnostics flags any it recognises.
